Double cavity sliding doors for ensuite reno

Hi. Im doing a complete gut and reno of my ensuite. It has never had a door.  The entry space is approx 1400 mm. To save space Ive thought of 2 sliding cavity doors. I see the kits in Bunnings. Theres a video explaining how to install them, but nowhere does it say if 2 can be used, meeting in the middle? Im guessing Id use 2 of the 2040 x 720 x 90mm. Coronthian Doors calls theirs Flush Pull Slimline door cavity unit. Hume is named Evolution CJ Flush pull door cavity unit..What is a CJ??  Firstly can i use two of these with one back to front to make a pair,? Or do i need a specialist door manufacturer. And can there be some sort of privacy lock and handle. ?  

I cant really add photo because the ensuite is gutted, no walls to show.

Hi @SillyGrandma,

I can't see any reason why you couldn't use two single cavity sliders that meet in the middle. I've included a diagram below where I've simply flipped and mirrored the installation for the other side. In fact, I've just found the steps for installing a double cavity slider at the bottom of the Evolution installation guide. It does appear to be as easy as installing two systems butted up against each other.

Obviously, with such a large opening in the frame, you'll need to ensure the wall is not a structural support before removing that much framing.

The doors can be locked in the middle with a Lane Satin Chrome Sliding Cavity Door Lock. Handle-wise, you can choose something to your tastes; my favourite are these matt black 160mm handles.

CJ stands for closing jamb. It just means that the door will slide out to the full length of the track and close flush against the jamb timber they include in the kit. You won't be using this length of timber as the doors meet each other, not the wall.
