Can you tile over Hardie Groove panels?

Hi, I would like to use Hardie Groove on all of the walls of my bathroom.  Can I use the Hardi groove in the shower as a substrate to tile over or do I need to switch to flat cement sheet in that area

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Tim_S. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about using Hardie Groove.

Villaboard would be the best product to use within a shower recess. It's far less expensive than Hardie Groove and is designed with rebated edges for joining. Its flat surface is also better suited for membranes to be applied over. Using a grooved board could cause issues down the track.
