I want to install a shower rail with a handheld showerhead, but the showerhead's hose doesn't fit this water outlet because it's not a standard size. Any idea on how I can convert this to a standard sized male fitting?
Hello @deeian
The part you are looking at is a custom fit adapter from your old shower head assembly. It must be removed in order for you to replace it with an ordinary shower head of your choice. I propose using either a Trojan 250mm Locking Pliers or a Trojan 300mm Multigrip Plier. Your goal is to remove the brass adapter so that you can get access to the threaded outlet of your wall. Once you have removed the adapter you can pretty much install a shower head of your choice.
Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to change a shower head

Hi, thanks for your reply. That's what I thought in the beginning, but I tried to unscrew the brass fitting with the pliers you've suggested and it wouldn't move at all. The pliers even slipped and caused deep scratches on the brass fitting.
Hello @deeian
If your pliers slip, I suggest using a Trojan 250mm Pipe Wrench. This has been designed to latch on to smooth pipe surfaces to grip and turn it. Please remember that it must be turned anticlockwise to loosen the fitting. My best advice is to start at a high angle so that you have leverage when pulling down. If it still refuses to budge, I suggest engaging the services of a licensed plumber to remove the fitting.
