Hello. Im replacing my old Caroma cistern with a Made for replacement Estilo cistern. The water inlet pipe and the bigger elbow pipe dont match up perfectly, and Im wondering if I can force them into position or if that will mean issues down the track.
Any knowledge appreciated thanks.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Ann4. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about toilet cisterns.
The fact that you are considering forcing the fittings together indicates to me that they are possibly the same-sized fittings, albeit a little tight. They would be 40 and 50mm if they were not corresponding sizes, and I can't imagine they would even come close to fitting, even with force.
Water inlet pipes to cisterns have always been the same size and utilise a flexible hose connection or copper pipe with a 1/2" connector. So, we might need to further troubleshoot why this doesn't match up perfectly.
I presume the bigger elbow pipe with your new cistern is too large for the existing pan cone on the pan. If that's the case, it sounds like you might have a 40mm cone on the pan currently, which needs to be swapped for a Deks 50mm Black Dekfit Rubber Pan Cone. Even the correct-sized cone takes a little force to get it onto the pipe.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
