How to close the small gap between garage and fence?
Hi,
what is the best way to cover the gap between garage and colourbond fence so that it looks ok and also it’s cat proof (we have a cat that we would like to let out in your backyard but she climbs timber fences)? The gap is about 22cm and it’s small enough that makes drilling into the wall from the inside of the gap really awkward.. appreciate if you share your thoughts.

Re: What’s best to close the small gap between garage and fence?
Hello @sara81
Welcome to the Bunnings workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about covering the gap between your wall and the fence.
I propose using SpecRite 1800 x 600mm Pre-Oiled Merbau Garden Fence Panel. Extremely durable and long-lasting, Merbau is a popular choice that looks great and lasts a long time provided it is properly maintained. It's built for outside use and can be mounted directly to your brick wall. But if you need a spacer to compensate for the cover, I suggest using 90x45 H4 treated pine. Because it is treated, its perfect for direct soil contact and is rated for outdoor use.

Re: What’s best to close the small gap between garage and fence?
Hi Eric,
many thanks for your response. How do we cut the soecrite merbau panel to fit the gap (noting the gap is only 200mm in width and the height of the fence is 2000mm)? Is there an alternative option if it can’t be cut to fit the gap?
thanks again

Re: What’s best to close the small gap between garage and fence?
Hello @sara81
My suggestion actually saves you from having to cut the Specrite Merbau fence panel. The entire panel is used to cover the gap between your brick wall and the Colorbond fence. This is why I mentioned using a 90x45 piece of timber. It will need to be installed next to the gutter and the Merbau panel is then screwed onto the piece of timber. I've placed a sample image below to give you an idea of how it is to be put into place.
If you are thinking of another alternative, you can use Marine plywood and cutting it down to size. The plywood can be screwed on directly to your brick wall using masonry screws. If you are worried about the 200mm difference between the Merbau panel and the fence, then I suggest just using Marine Plywood and painting it dark brown or the same colour as your brick wall.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
