Please forgive the terminology. I have a Whitco mk2 screen door lock.
Issue is when deadbolt latch is flicked, jiggling the outside handle a few times causes the deadbolt to disengage and the door to open.
I have pulled it apart and can see that it's when the latch is tapped enough times the deadbolt eventually falls back down to an unlocked position.
Is there anything I can do to fix this, or do I need to replace the mechanism?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @JackofNoTrades. It's great to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about screen locks.
I suspect there are no serviceable parts within the lock and believe it is a pressed sealed chassis. The easiest option would be to replace the lock; how old is the current one? It looks to be reasonably new and could still be under warranty. If you purchased the lock through one of our stores, I'd encourage you to take it in with your proof of purchase to discuss the issue with a team member and determine whether it is under warranty.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
