When we purchased our home, we could not fit our new lounges through any of the doors. So hubby cut through a wall, (as you do 😜) to gain internal access from the garage. Of course we then thought ‘why not keep the entrance permanent & create a quirky sliding barn door into our home’ so we did 🙌
I will include before & after pics & the materials used from Bunnings
Hubby cutting out the wall
Materials
Tools
These became the door
Door handle
Sliding top part track
Steps
Step 1
1/1Cut a hole in the door
Gyprocked
Added the track
Added our creation of the two pieces of panelling
Added the handle
All finished. Love how it all blends together. You would never know that this was not the original internal access from the garage.

Re: Sliding barn door
Hi Patsy60, just wondering if you also have a track at the bottom of the door or something to slide the door at the bottom. Thanks Di
