Cleaning widows outside can be a very labor intensive and time consuming job..not to mention risks involved with going up and down ladders..
There have been several high water pressure spraying units advertised on TV ( no brand names mentioned ) ..and they work..if it has standard hose fittings.!
Unfortunately some don't..( as I found out the hard way ) and are a complete waste of time and money..
So I decided to look further in to it..I have a disability which makes it difficult for me to be standing on ladders with bucket and water.!
Firstly I looked around for a pressure gun with detergent cylinder that would connect to an Australian hose fitting..
I didn't want to pay a lot for it, so decided to look at eBay first..
I found the gun that's in the photo for $19.95.! It has an infinitely adjustable nozzle..and 3 stage switch at the top for controlling water / detergent flow..
The next thing was what sort of detergent to use.!? Normal dish washing detergent would not be very good as...
1..it doesn't always clean everything without scrubbing..
2..It can leave streaks on glassware..
The answer to the problem..Dish Washing Tablets.!
In my dish washer they always clean everything and leave glassware clean and streak free..
I found an empty jar ( like a pickle jar ) and filled it with hot water..I then dropped in one tablet and sealed it..shaking it up a bit and left it until the tablet was completely dissolved..
When I was ready to spray the detergent I just filled the cylinder with the detergent mix..
This is the procedure for cleaning the windows...
1 x Dish washing tablet
1 x Pickle jar
1 x High pressure water spray gun..
Firstly connect the hose to the gun and set the dial to just water..and the nozzle to a narrow spray..
Wash each window with an up and down motion..starting from the bottom and spraying up..
Repeat this across the width of the window..
If there are any hard bits on the window ( like bird droppings ) just blast them off with the stronger setting on the nozzle...
Leave the window for a couple of minutes to drain off the water and then change the settings to water / detergent mix..
Spray the windows again using the same method as before and then leave the windows for 10 minutes..
After 10 minutes..switch the settings knob back to water only..and repeat the up and down motion..
Hi @Prof
I would recommend a quality specific Window washer Brush
Coupled with the same brand Sabco Extension pole to keep your feet on the ground for starters.
I would use a commercial Window washing solution this will save you having to reinvent the wheel or make your own solutions. and thy are designed to wash clean and be mostly streak free to finish off. the trick is to not overuse the solution in a bucket to keep any suds down.
The best way is to use a window squeezy on the lower levels. Simply hose off higher levels and let them air dry.
hope this helps.
