Is it possible for a Rookie to replace soffit?

Is it possible for a Rookie to replace soffit?

So, bought a house a few months ago. The building and pest noted a potential issue with some leaking in the guttering at the front (eave overhanging our front landing and door). Had a guttering guy come out and replace that small section of guttering. I now believe it has something to do with the roof leaving in that area because I've noticed holes that have been drilled into the soffit and what looks like water tracks coming out.

So, is soffit something this Rookie could do?

Re: Is it possible for a Rookie to replace soffit?

Hello @RookieRenovator

Replacing eaves should be a fairly straight forward repair job. If you have the tools necessary and plan ahead, you should be able to repair the eave. Generally, you would use something like James Hardie 2400 x 750 x 4.5mm 1.80m² HardieFlex™ Eaves - 2400 x 750 x 4.5mm to repair the damage.

However, before you begin, it's important to locate the source of the leak in your roof first, otherwise all that effort will be wasted as the eave will get water damaged again. I propose engaging the services of a roofing specialist and having them inspect your entire roof for leaks. Once the leaks are fixed you can then tackle the eaves.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Thanks Eric. Sorry, should've pointed out that fixing the leak was apart of thr plan!

Will figure that out first then look at the soffit.

Thanks again.
