How to renovate small bathroom, laundry and toilet?

Hi there,

Looking at updating the bathroom, toilet and laundry space from the 80's vibe they currently have.

The space of each room is quite small, wondering what potential options would suit best.

1. Keep each room as separate

2. Combine toilet and Bathroom

3. Combine toilet and Laundry

4. Combine toilet, Bathroom and Laundry

It all just feels very tight at the moment, so hoping to make it feel abit bigger. any ideas welcome!

Re: Bathroom, laundry renovation help

Hello @Benji1

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your bathroom renovation.

I vote going with option number two and that is combining the toilet and the bathroom. This will make the shower floor area larger and allow you to get a larger vanity. It reduces the number of doors you'll be needing from three to two. I also suggest moving the bathroom door to middle of the wall instead of being in the corner. The extra laundry door can then be placed at the opposite end as a walk through.

There is also the other option of removing the bath and turning it into a walk-in shower, this would give you even more floor space making the bathroom roomier. You can then totally maximize the size of the vanity. I also suggest having a look at this guide - How to plan a bathroom renovation by @Adam_W

Re: Bathroom, laundry renovation help

Hi @Benji1

I 100% agree with @EricL and go with Opt 2 and leave the laundry as is. It's amazing how much additional space you will gain once that dividing wall is gone. below is my last bathroom reno so you can see the change you can make with better use of space.

To help with potential layout and door options can you send through an expanded view of the rooms/spaces to the right. Also are you on a slab or do you have access to the sub-floor being on stumps?

Hi @Benji1,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. We're looking forward to seeing how you can transform these rooms.

Can I please ask whether you have another toilet elsewhere in the house?

Let me also tag some experienced renovators who might like to share their thoughts: @Renowayoflife@redbournreno and @2Belindas.

Re: How to renovate small bathroom, laundry and toilet?

Morning @Benji1

I alos like option 2  Almost was going to suggest option 3 but the more i thought about it the more it would be problematic. If you wante dto exit the house via the laundy (rain coming, general stuff) and someone was showering, not so good

I would also shift the door for the laundry so its opposite the back dooor and is a walk through as @EricL has suggested. Makes for a lot more streamlined feel
