How to remove white hazy smear left on home windows after cleaning?

After using a window cleaning product from the Warehouse I am left with a hazy white smear on our windows. Although you only see the white hazy smear in certain light it does make the windows look terrible. I used Mr Magic cloths (from Bunnings) to apply the window cleaning solution. I would like to have lovely clean clear windows in our new home. What is the white cloudy smear and any suggestions to get rid of it?

Re: White hazy smear left on home windows after cleaning

Hi @maharris,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It is wonderful to have you with us.

Can I ask you to upload some photos of the windows showing the haze from different angles? Let me know if you need a hand uploading images, I'm happy to help if required.

It sounds like it could be some kind of residue that mixed with the window cleaner and wasn't picked up by your cloth.

Without seeing the issue, it would be hard to offer a great solution, but I suspect applying your window cleaner, wiping in a circular motion to lift any residue on the surface, then wiping it down with a separate, slightly damp, clean cloth to remove the residue before applying a second spray of window cleaner and wiping will produce better results.

Once I can see some photos, I may be able to offer a more tailored solution.

Let me know what you think.

Jacob

Hi @maharris,

Can you please also let us know what window cleaning product you used? That would be really helpful when determining the cause of the white marks. Apart from the info Jacob has provided above, I could only imagine that too much product might have been applied, the windows were particularly dirty and require a second cleaning to remove residue or the product is designed to be flushed off with clean water.

Keen to hear more.

Mitchell
