We are looking to convert a room into a gym (this will be for the long term). We current have vinyl planking in the space and want to install rubber gym flooring. However we have done some research and have found that the rubber flooring can leach into the vinyl planking. We were thinking about possibly putting some Masonite Underlay in between the vinyl and rubber flooring. Do you believe this would work to protect the flooring? Any other suggestions?
Hi @owhyte,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you join us.
Masonite underlay would be perfect for this application but may be quite costly over a larger area.
You might like to consider Ramboard Temporary Floor Protection as an option. It is a thick and strong cardboard product that is used in construction sites to protect finished floors.
Combined with Ramboard 72mm Surface Protection Joining Tape, it will create a solid, water-resistant barrier over a large area quickly and easily, while still being easy to remove if you ever need to.
Let me know what you think.
