Hi guys,
I really need help with fixing my office table leg.
It's a very heavy particle board and I was about to move it then a chunk of it with screw in it, came off(photos attached)
Not I can't install the leg back
Any suggestions would be really appreciated
Thanks
Sam
Hi @Samnet
If you click on your profile picture the menu should come down and the sub menu for private messages should be present right under "Notifications". Please have a look. If it's not there, please let me know.
Eric
Thanks. The option came to my profile
Just so we're on the same page @Samnet, this is how I intended the repair to go.
You have a big chipboard chip - something like this and with an opposing intact vertical edge...
With the pin/bracket positioned in the panel and with the dowel spacers intact - lower the panel into place. That way you can mark out the site and determine if wood needs to be chiseled away.
Ideally the top of the plate will eventually be level with the wood.
A straight edge will help.
You can see the chiselled out area is now level but there is a larger gap at left.
This is where Builder's Bog or something similar will come in handy.
(My fluorescent Builder's Bog here is orthopaedic putty.)
Return the panel with the attached bracket and press into the Bog - till the top plate is level - and let it set.
Once dry - screw the bracket firmly into place.
I'm not sure what product you could use to fill the remaining missing chipboard areas with? The Bog I have dries a pinkish colour but I guess none of this will be seen, as it's the underside of the desk?
Cheers
Graeme.
Thanks @Noyade
Yes it's underneath and is not visible. I think I need to chisel it rather than fill it
