Hi everyone,
our house is 15 years old and there is a gap between the house and concrete path. How to fill the gap to prevent water damage the foundation? Thank you so much.
Hello @mousom_sarkar
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us.
If you look at the start of the discussion, you'll see that sub surface water was mentioned. This is water that enters under your slab and makes the soil soft, due to the weight of the concrete slab it will then begin to shift because of this soft soil. Your issue is a bit more concerning as your plumbing is linked to the concrete slab. To temporarily seal the gap and prevent rainwater from entering the gap I suggest using the Sika 600ml Concrete Grey Sikaflex 11FC Purform.
I recommend engaging the services of a builder or concrete slab specialist and asking them if it will be necessary to shift the slab back into position. In regards to your question of support, the slab is technically self-supporting, due to its size and weight there is no need to add any sort of anchoring device to it to keep it in place. However, its greatest strength is also its weakness, because it is so heavy any movement of the soil beneath it translates to movement at the top.
