How to cover an indoor concrete step?

Hi all,

I've just poured new concrete in a bedroom and am seeking some advice on how to cover the concrete step at the front.

Re: How to cover an indoor concrete step?

Hello @weekendwally

I propose using ordinary pine timber to dress the front of your concrete floor. However, I also suggest taking into account the height of the flooring you'll be putting into the room. Will you be tiling or will you be putting in clip on flooring systems? This will save you from having to adjust and recut the pine panel. Due to the increase in floor height will you be putting in an extra step to the entrance of that room? If you are, then I suggest using pine timber as well to keep it uniform. The best part of course is that you can stain and seal the pine timber in the finish that you like.

Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their recommendations.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Afternoon @weekendwally

I was thinking maybe tiles with a square edge lip at first, Even using the fake timber look floor tile so its just one piece across the width of the step.

Then I saw @EricL 's response  and yep he convinced me that a timber one will look much nicer and be a lot easier to install. You will also need to redo the base sill but you can match the timber to the step height.
