Afternoon @nbasrah

With your questions

"hi, this is our new build, I am wanting to change the mortar colour to salinger colour and the frame of my door to match with my door which is night sky. What is the best way to implement this please?"

Changeing the mortar colour now would be a difficult job, Rendering over the wall would be an easier way to go but still a large effort. I had to go lookup the colour you were after for the mortar  Do you know what colour your existing mortar is?

With your door frame I would paint it black allowing it to dry solidly before closing the door. I would also make sure you tape over any hinges ect so paint wont gum up the works.

If you could supply some close up photos of the existing mortar and also any thing around the door that might be causing you questions so we can help some more.

Re: How to change mortar colour

Hi @nbasrah,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.

As @Dave-1 has said, altering the colour of your mortar is not exactly simple. You would have to either paint each mortar line or scrape out the front of the mortar and repoint it with new mortar that is your colour of choice. This is a massive amount of work and I'd be very surprised if any tradie would take on the job at a reasonable price.

Rendering the brick is likely your best option to alter the appearance of the brick as unfortunately, the time for colour changes to your mortar has passed.

For your door frame, I'd suggest taking the door off the hinges, taping everything off and painting it with exterior paint to the colour of your choosing.

Have a look at How to paint trims for some guidance on the process.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
