Can you paint formply?
Hi guys!
My partner has made me an amazing Barbie Box Photo Booth for my daughter’s birthday party out of formply sheets.
My question is, will it be possible to paint the black laminate finish and have paint actually stick?

Re: Can you paint formply?
Hi @bmc3103,
Given the ultraslick surface, most paints will have difficulty adhering to it. The last time I painted some, I ran over the surface with an electric sander and some very coarse (40-grit) sandpaper to scratch the surface up. You don't need to sand through the black coating; just remove the sheen from it and key the surface. You can then try a standard paint on it, or my preference would be to use Dulux Precision Max Adhesion primer and then, when dry, the colour of your choosing.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
