What size dowelling rods do I need to make flagpoles?
Hi, I need to mount some flags for a conference. They will be carried indoors on poles and then stand in bases for the duration of the conference along the wings of the stage. A friend is making the bases for me. The flags are 90cm x 120 cm. What length & diameter should the poles be?
Thanks!

Re: What size dowelling rods do I need to make flagpoles?
Hello @DebKuss
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's marvellous to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about what dowel size for flagpoles.
The standard ceiling height in a room is conservatively 2.4m. If the flag is 120cm long, I recommend a 25.4mm Dowel Tasmanian Oak Select 2.4m or similar cut down to 2.2m. If you feel that the flag is too high, you can cut it down further, but I don't recommend cutting it any lower than 2.0m so that the flag will not touch the ground.
If you need further assistance, please let me know.
Eric
