How to paint rusted galvanised tubes?
Hi,
Can I apply British Paint 4 seasons defence exterior low sheen paint for rusted galvanised tubes? Will it protect from rust? Any other suggestions?
I will be using the galvanised tubes in the garden.
Thanks
Kiran

Re: Rusted Galvanised Tubes
Hi @kiranraob4u,
Thank you for your question.
Yes, you can use British Paints 4 Seasons Defence on your galvanised steel tubing, and it will help to stop further rust, but you will need to give them a good clean and then apply a primer beforehand.
Start by removing any surface rust with a wire brush and then wiping them down with some degreaser.
If any of the rust is particularly bad, which it certainly doesn't appear to be in your photos, you can treat it with rust converter.
Once clean, apply a coat of Dulux Metalshield Etch Primer, allow it to cure for 2 hours, then apply two coats of your 4 Seasons Defence.
Let me know what you think and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
