How to remove pavers and concrete

Hi

I have some pavers in my backyard (photos below). Several are starting to come loose and I would like to remove most of them from the right hand side of the step and fill with soil and grass.  A few questions:

What would be the best way to remove the (pavers and) concrete manually?

How do I get all of the adhesive etc off the pavers?

Is there any way to cut the pavers in half manually to repurpose them for something else?

Do I need to put anything under the soil against the external house wall?

Re: How to remove pavers and concrete

Hello @IL

Thank you for sharing your question about removing your pavers. I suggest using a Craftright 380mm Wrecking Bar to separate the paver from the concrete base. Please note that if the adhesive is too strong there is the possibility that the paver could break apart. Unfortunately, there is no sure way to separate the paver from the concrete base. If the adhesive on the back of the paver has petrified the only way to remove it is to use a grinder with a grinding disc.

If you wish to cut the pavers in half, you'll need to use the grinder again and use a masonry disc to cut the paver in half. To remove the concrete base, I propose using a Craftright 1.8KG Sledgehammer to break apart the concrete base. Depending on its thickness you might need to use a heavier hammer.

Please remember to wear personal protection such as heavy-duty gloves, goggles and a mask when working on your project.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
