hi,
just thinking of painting this outside posts. Can you please advise, if I want to paint them, What preparation do I need? Do I need to clean/sand off them first and then put the paint on ? They are outdoor. so obviously will have to be weatherproof paint. I I am hoping to put white colour. so what paint would you recommend?
thanks.
Hi @arun11australia,
It's a bit hard to see the condition of the posts in your image. Are they deteriorated at all, or is there any flaking paint on them? Chances are that they would benefit from sanding to smooth the surface and prepare it for paint. Something like 180-grit should be fine, and I'd recommend that you use a random orbital sander. Once there is no deteriorated timber or paint, you can paint directly over them with quality exterior paint such as Dulux Weathershield.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Hi
thanks
timber has not been painted before. This would be the first time. There isn’t any damage visible or flakes. it has just discoloured from the weather
