How to even out timber sleepers on a retaining wall?

Hi Folks,

I have installed timber sleepers on top of the existing retaining wall to offer some seating space (refer to pictures below). Unfortunately, where the lengths of the timber sleepers join, the sleepers have started to warp resulting in an uneven surface.

1. Do sleepers warp back with support?

2. If so what kind of bracket support would you recommend?

Thank You

Re: How to even out timber sleepers on a retaining wall

Hi @Yangaz,

If you use clamps with more force, like G-clamps then you could potentially re-align the sleepers. I don't believe they will warp back by themselves, though, as that's obviously the way they want to go. I suggest installing a mending plate underneath to try and correct the issue as much as possible. Fix it into the lower side on the right with a few screws and then use your clamps to align the sleepers. Then you can screw in the left-hand-side.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell

Thanks, Mitchell, might buy two mending plates to put one on each side
