Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @hawanna67. It's sensational to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about replacing timber trim work.
You'll need to remove the rotted timber trim with a prybar. Insert it between the trim and the timber behind, and gently lever the trim off. If the heavily decayed trim is the same size as the other one, you could use it as a pattern to cut out a new trim piece from plywood.
Before reinstalling your new trim, you'll need to prime and then paint it. Be sure to check the other unpainted trim work for decay, as that should also be resolved prior to painting. If the timber is rough, you'll need to sand it to prepare it for painting. An orbital sander will come in handy for this.
Since you'll be working at heights, here's a helpful guide: How to use a ladders safely. If you are at all not confident at working at heights, I recommend you enlist the services of a professional.
