How to fill gap beside meter box and brick wall?
Hi team,
Hope everyone is well. I am looking to fill the area besides my meter box outside.
I already tried the silicone but as the gap is too large that didn’t work. I need something expandable and waterproof.
please also note that the gap is around 7cm deep.
I don’t want to fill everything, just the outer layer as to avoid any ingress of water or insects.

Re: Gap filling
Hello @Vismay
Thanks for sharing your question about filling the gap in your brick wall. You can either use Moroday 10mm x 5m White Gap Filler Rod and push it into the gap at least 5mm deep and then you can use silicone on top of it. The purpose of the filler rod is to prevent the silicone from dropping further into the gap. The other option is to use Parfix 340g Expanding Foam Filler, it is a self-expanding foam that grows to at least three times its original size.
Spray it close to the surface of the gap to at least 5mm deep and wait for it expand and cover the gap. Once the foam cures you can cut off the excess with a craft knife.
Please make sure to wear disposable gloves and goggles when using working on your repairs.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: Gap filling
Hi @EricL
Thanks for your suggestion. Went the foam filler and it did the job perfectly. Just one question is there any way to remove the foam residue (marked in the photo)from the meter box? I already tried gum remover but no luck.

Re: Gap filling
Hi @Vismay,
I'm sorry to hear the expanding foam left residue on the meter box. I would suggest that the easiest option would be to paint over the area as it's unlikely that you could remove the residue. Anything strong enough to remove the residue is likely to also take of the existing paint. You could try Acetone, but typically it is only good for removing expanding foam that hasn't fully cured. Acetone is quite strong so remember to follow the safety guidance on the product.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
