There was a 1cm gap between the spa cedar deck and the Kwila deck that runs parallel to the cedar deck. The gap came about because i preferred to keep the full lengths of Kwila at the front(so it looks good) and have the odd gap at the back. The challenge was to close this gap. Cutting a piece of kwila and then trying to ram it into the space was not an option. Using aluminium to close the gap was the best option.
One length of L shaped(equal angle) powder coated aluminium.
One length of flat bar powder coated aluminium
Makita compound mitre saw fitted with Tolsen TCT saw blade specifically designed to cut aluminium cleanly.
Bosh Drill and Drill Driver
Cut L shaped powder coated aluminium to size
Primer painted cut edge. Finished edge with black paint
Installed L shaped aluminium to ceder deck
Cut flat bar powder coated aluminium to size
Primer painted cut edge. Finished edge with black paint
Installed flat bar aluminium to Kwila deck
Gap is now closed.
Hello @Oreoprojects
That gap cover is very nicely done. The best part is it's made of low-profile aluminium which will provide a long service life. It can be taken off and put right back in with very little worry should any repairs need to be done.
Many thanks for sharing.
