My biggest DIY project to date. Outdoor firepit seating area. Made from besser blocks and decorative breeze blocks, finished off with a spotted gum floating bench seat and decorative rocks and stepping pavers on the ground
Hi @WayneM thanks for the great feedback, much appreciated.
Some lessons learned and feedback for other would be that it’s best to take your time to make sure the project turns out exactly how you plan, especially if you are trying a new skill (like rendering or laying blocks). YouTube and Bunnings DIY videos are also your friend. Lastly, also get a tradie to do the jobs you might think would be worth having it done right the first time i.e. laying the foundation slab with vertical reo bars etc
Awesome, thanks for the extra photos and lessons learned @sannear.
We look forward to featuring your project on the site soon.
Jason
Now that is one solid outdoor seating area Love that it wont be able to be broken easily. When I saw your footings and reo my eyes went "This is not a 5 min job" It really looks professional right down to the post for festoon lighting
Dave
@Dave-1 Thanks mate! Well it’s funny you say that. This happened last year and the stayed relatively in tack apart from a couple smashed breeze blocks. Luckily we could repair it quite easily.
hahahahah Well that answered the question... "How did they have some smashed breeze blocks?" Man Impressive tree fall and so lucky it didnt take out the fence! On the flip side, How good is your seating if all you lost was a couple of breeze blocks! Now that is quality work!
You have done well
Dave
Hi @sannear,
I'd also like to commend your hard work! Thank goodness no one was injured from that extra-large branch falling into your firepit area. It is a really lovely space and I am pleased to read there was little damage. Will the breeze blocks be hard to replace?
Katie
Hi @KatieC, thanks for the comment. We got lucky that a local brick supplier stocks the breeze blocks in multiple patterns so we could easily grab some more to replace the broken ones.
