Hey there
I removed a piece of timber that the curtains hung off and it has ripped the dry wall down to cardboard.
I was hoping to gain some advice on this and potential fixes
Hello @fletcherellis
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your dry wall.
If the damage is very deep it would be best to cut out the damaged section and replacing it with a plaster repair sheet. I recommend using a Trojan 150mm Jab Saw to cut out the damaged section in a square or rectangular profile. To fix the damaged sections, I suggest having a quick read of this discussion - How to fix a large hole in the ceiling? by @Faye10. It gives an excellent description on how to cover large holes in your plasterboard.
For the smaller damaged sections, I suggest using Parfix 500g Ready To Use Multipurpose Filler. Once the filler dries, it can be sanded down so that it is at the same level as the wall. The final steps will be to clean the wall of dust and debris, then prime and paint the surface.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
