I bought a flat pack tv unit which is not wide enough for the tv to sit on. What would be the best option, to remove and replace the original top or add another piece on top of the original piece? The dimensions of the unit are 160cm long by 31cm wide. I need the width to be at least 40cm wide. What material would be recommended.
Hello @tayh92
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your TV unit.
I suggest using a Specrite 1800mm x 405mm x 18mm Multi use pine panel. This should be wide enough for your TV unit. It can be fixed into place using standard timber screws. Please double check the thickness of your current benchtop on the TV unit and add that to the thickness of the pine panel which is 18mm. The total you get will be the maximum length of the screw you can use on your TV unit. It can be cut down with an ordinary hand saw or circular saw if you have one. It can be stained or painted to the colour of your choice.
