Upcycled a Kitchen Hutch that I bought super cheap off market place. Sanded back the top of hutch, the bottom and the draws. Used the Ryobi one plus belt sander for the top of the hutch. I then used the Ryobi one plus cat sander for everything else. To start 80g paper, then 120g, then finished with a 240g for a super smooth finish.
Painted with Porters Aqua trim in Riverstone. Used Feats Watson Matt clear for the lighter timber.

You have done a spectacular job on your upcycled hutch! The contrast in the timber and the rich Riverstone colour is so eye-catching. It looks like you removed the top half to paint first, did you find that easier? Your paint job is so smooth and well-defined, any tips to pass on?

Hi, thanks for your kind words. I definitely removed the top and worked on each part separately. I made it easier to sand when they were apart.
The best way to get such a smooth finish is to always use a good quality brush. I used the Monarch doors and trim brush in the 50mm, which is a smooth and soft brush. The better quality the brush the better the finish. I’m by no means an expert painter. The Porters paint is an excellent quality paint also. When doing any finishes I always use a good quality brush and a good quality paint. Other great paints are Taubmens and Dulux depending on your project.
Hi @amandac,
That is really great advice, thank you for sharing! I agree, sometimes you are only as good as your tools and when you tools are high quality the better the chances of a spectacular finish like yours.
