Hi folks,
A silly question for today. I'm going to install this aircon remote mount/bracket/holder on the wall, but I'm not sure what the hole in the corner is for. I only plan on using the ones down the middle.
Cheers!

Hi @barydos,
Was that one of our air-cons, and if so, could you please provide details of the unit? That way, I can contact the manufacturer to find out the purpose of the third hole.
Having a quick look, an overwhelming number of remote mounts have only two holes in the middle. However, I've come across at least one other style with this third mystery hole in the corner, so now I'm intrigued. Functionally I can't see any use for a third screw apart from it being over-engineered. Perhaps the top middle screw is installed first, then the bottom one, before adjusting the mount to be perpendicular to the floor. Those two screws are tightened, and the third one in the corner is installed to lock the mount and stop it from twisting. I guess, potentially, it's there to offer an alternative mounting position. Maybe it's designed to allow the mount to be installed sideways, though I can't see why that couldn't be done with the two holes in the middle.
Let me mention @TedBear to see if he has any thoughts.
I am looking forward to hearing if this is one of our products; otherwise, it will bother me all day. 😃

Thanks for the write up. Yeah it's definitely got me curious too. It's this unit I got from bunnings https://www.bunnings.com.au/mitsubishi-avanti-2-5kw-reverse-cycle-split-system-air-conditioner_p4442...
Hi @barydos,
I've gone right to the top to get this one answered for us! That additional hole is for situations where you're mounting to a horizontal timber. Say you can't find a vertical timber to use the two vertical holes; you can use the two top holes to screw directly into a horizontal noggin. You'd find it difficult to use the two vertical holes on a 45mm thick noggin. The third hole just provides options in difficult-to-mount circumstances.
Mystery solved!

Ahhh it ended up being the simplest answer! Thanks so much for looking into this one, really appreciate it Mitchell
