Hi everyone,
I need your advice on installing a new Ikea lamp and have attached two photos for reference. The first photo shows my current ceiling lamp setup, and the second is an installation step for the new lamp I plan to use, which requires hanging it with a hook.
My question is: How can I use the hook to hang the new lamp in the same spot as my current lamp, given that there’s a hole in the ceiling?
The installation step for the new lamp shows using a hook for hanging, but I’m unsure how to apply this to my existing setup with the ceiling hole. Any tips or suggestions on how to modify or use the hook effectively for this situation would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi @AliJamali
When the old light comes out you will have a hole.
The hook needs to go into a timber support in your roof near the hole opening, the hook will take the lights weight and needs to be positioned to work with the pendant mounting hardware.
This can be tricky to do some times if you are at all unsure get in an electrician
Hi @AliJamali,
@Jewelleryrescue is right on the money. You'll need an electrician to remove the current light, and it's likely a good idea to have them install the hook in your ceiling cavity to attach the new light. They'll also be able to hook it up to power for you.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
