Hi,
I am trying to install the floating timber desk following this video by Bunnings.
https://www.bunnings.com.au/diy-advice/indoor/study/how-to-make-a-diy-timber-floating-wall-desk
However, my wall is solid masonry/brick wall instead of plasterboard/stud wall shown in the video. I was wondering how to secure the bracket.
The bracket suggested in the video page is
Looking at the manufacturer website for the bracket below
https://www.carinya.com.au/extreme-strength-angle-brackets-galvanised
It says to follow these instructions
Brackets should only be attached to wall studs if attaching to plaster board walls, or brickwork/masonry (not mortar or grouting).
Appropriate heavy duty fasteners should be used.
Do not use plastic wall plugs to fix brackets to walls under any circumstances.
Make sure the bracket is securely fixed to the wall and all screws are fastened tightly.
I wonder what do they mean by heavy duty fasteners? (Some example Bunnings product page links would be greatly appreciated). Thank you.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @victor2605. It's fabulous to have you join us and many thanks for your question.
The heavy-duty masonry fasteners they are referring to would be Dynabolts. The Ramset 6 x 60mm DynaBolt Plus Flat Head Bolt - 4 Pack should be suitable, and a helpful team member in-store will check to see that they fit through the mounting holes. The team will also be able to offer an alternative if there are any issues.
Please let us know how you go, and I look forward to seeing your results.
Mitchell
