Hi
The stitching on my leather lounge has started to come off (as visible in the pics) and need to fix it before it gets any longer. What's the best material I can use to fix this? Understand we don't have Barge Cement or Aleene's Leather & Suede Glue here in Australia. What's the next best alternative?
Thanks for your help.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Maddy_S. It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing upholstery.
While we don't stock specific upholstery products, contact adhesive could potentially be used as a temporary measure. However, the seam would need to be pulled together whilst the glue dries. Also, keep in mind that a seam like this is under stress when someone sits in the lounge. Simply gluing it might not hold up long-term without reinforcing the stitching.
For a more durable solution, I’d recommend repairing the stitching to provide the necessary support. If you’re not comfortable doing this yourself, reaching out to an upholstery professional would be the best course of action. They can ensure the repair is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
