How to fix chewed up window skirting?

What is the best thing to use for repairing this chewed up window skirting? I’ve read about builder’s bog, wood filler, wood putty and am not sure which would be best to use and how to shape it to the contours of the skirting. Appreciate the advice!!

Re: Fixing chewed up window skirting

Hello @lildiy

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about repairing your window skirting.

It appears that the damage is not very deep. I suggest sanding the surface down with a Flexovit 115mm x 1m 240 Grit Painted Surface Sandpaper Roll. Once you have the surface smooth and free of splinters, I recommend using Parfix 500g Ready To Use Multipurpose Filler to fill in the gouges and low sections of the window skirting. I propose using a Pro Renovator 50mm Plastic Scraper to spread the filler.

Once the filler cures, I suggest using the sandpaper in combination with a Paint Partner Cork Sanding Block. This will give your surface a flat uniform surface. Once you've finished sanding wipe the surface and surrounding area clean of dust. The last step will be to prepare the area for priming and painting.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
