I've recently come across the "Cartoon Flipped Furniture" style and decided to give it a go and upcycle an old set of bedside draws for my very happy son, I hope it encourages him to pack away all of his toy cars soon.
Sandpaper
Dulux Enamel paint, Semi-Gloss, (Dura Max spray cans)
Small test tin "White Knight" - Black.
*I also suggest wearing gloves and a face mask.
Ozito belt sander
Small paint brush
Screwdriver
First I collected this set of draws from Salvos a couple of days prior and gave it a wash.
(I did not remove the draws first and started sanding the top because I was excited to get into it, but I still suggest doing that 1st)
(I also looked up Bart Simpson's bedroom before starting this project for some cartoon research and colour inspiration)
*One can was enough to complete the outside (not the back) and the handles.
I recommend laying these flat so your doors don't start looking like melted ice cream, however, this is another cartoon style that I've seen.
*One can also covered the inside of the draws and the sides.
Here I used a small tin of Black enamel paint (White Knight) and a small paintbrush (unfortunately I did not get a photo of this part being done)
*This also dried rather fast.
Evening Beck @BeckBekkers
I'm having a very pleasant evening with two glasses of wine onboard - but this is without a doubt one of the most amazing things I've seen on this forum in six years.
I would have loved to have done this for my kids - but alas, that was 35 years ago.
I can almost picture the Road Runner resting a gin and tonic on that at the end of a long day, laughing at how he had consistently evaded the Coyote.
I had to Google the concept - and your effort really does stand out.
Very well done. 😁
Hello @BeckBekkers
What an absolutely fantastic render. Framed against the background of that room it literally screams cartoons, truly a fantastic concept and an excellent way to remind your child to use it to their advantage.
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful project.
