Im looking to install https://www.bunnings.com.au/prempanel-2700-x-600-x-21mm-black-oak-timber-acoustic-panel_p0455961 . i cant use an adhesive or drill them directly to the wall as it may be temporary. i was thinking of using a french cleat bracket system similar to this https://www.bunnings.com.au/everhang-11kg-flush-mount-picture-hanger_p3930583 but wondering if the panels would be fine on those.
The wall has existing wallpaper that cannot be removed
Hello @RamenDIY
Welcome to the Bunning s Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about installing acoustic panels on your wall.
Yes, you can use French cleats to mount the Prempanel Acoustic Panels on to your wall. The Everhang 11kg Flush Mount Picture Hanger is a two-part picture hanging set. One part goes onto the wall and one part goes onto the panel. Both parts need to be screwed in order to anchor it in place. In essence you'll still be screwing into the wall and anything that needs to be hooked or hung will need some sort of mounting screw attached to it.
One option for temporary sound proofing is to build a light timber frame where you can install the Prempanel. You can then surround yourself with these panels to create excellent sound absorption. I've placed some sample images below to give you an idea on how to build a self-standing acoustic panel. Please ignore the measurements placed on the frame and adjust them to your needs. But the measurements for the foot are correct.
