Want to paint a room for nursery. There's slight scratches on the wall as in the picture. I the white parts I think are undercoat? Can I apply new paint straight away, or any prep work is required? Thanks!
Hello @rocketman
If parts of the wall paint are chipping away, it would be best to sand it down to remove all the loose paint on the wall. Once the wall has been sanded down make sure to wipe away all the sanding dust on the wall. I then suggest putting on a new coat of primer with a sealing feature such as the Dulux 1Step Prep Primer, Sealer & Undercoat. You can then use a topcoat like the Dulux Vivid White Low Sheen Wash&Wear +PLUS Anti-Scuff Interior Paint - 4L. It can be tinted to any colour you like.
Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to paint a room.

Thanks @EricL , what sander would you recommend please?
Hi @rocketman,
For a small area like this, I'd suggest using a Trojan 120 Grit Angled Sanding Sponge.
You don't need to remove all the paint, just remove the flaking stuff and any hard edges that will show through the next coat of paint.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
