Hi,
I have 2 pieces of furniture made with MDF but they are slightly different in color.
How can I match the lighter one to the same as the dark one? I have attached the images for 2.
Hi @puja7
It is very hard to match stain colours across different furniture pieces as usually they are made of different woods and even if you are using the same stain product the results will vary, Near impossible to match it all well. I wouldn't try to do it as the wrong stain too much will really mess the colour up right now they are pretty closly matched
But if you have the correct colour stain you can put some stain on a rag corner and wipe the lighter furniture in a test spot and see if the desired re colouring results occur then proceed with care
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @puja7. It's sensational to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about staining timber.
If the furniture is made of MDF, it must have a laminate or similar coating; it's unlikely that you can stain one piece to match the other, as these coatings are typically impervious to stains, and our stains are designed for timber, not laminate. You could potentially paint both pieces in a solid colour to achieve a uniform look, but darkening the stain on one to match the other might not be possible.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
