How to patch and paint floor tile grout?

How do I patch up floor tile grout and paint over existing grout too to match (in the kitchen)? What do I need? We have chips appearing and some chunks have started to come out (see close up photo). The grout needs a refresh with hopefully a grout paint pen. Is white the only option to go with these kitchen floor tiles & white kitchen cabinets with black handles (see kitchen floor tile photo)?
How do I work out how much grout and grout paint I need?
Thank you!

Re: floor tile grout and grout paint

Hello @cocobeaansz

Thank you for sharing your question about your tile grout. If you are only after a patch and repair of the grout, I suggest using the QEP Professional Grout Saw to remove any grout that is damaged or is deteriorating. Once you've cleaned out the broken grout use your vacuum cleaner to suck up all the residual dirt in the tile gap. Wipe the surface clean and use the Dunlop Ready To Go Coloured grout to fill the sections you are repairing.

If you are planning on painting the grout, I can only suggest either the White Knight 5ml White Grout Pen or the Dulux 7ML Renovation Range Grout Pen White along with the Dunlop 250ml Grout Paint - Ultrawhite. These are the only grout paint products I'm aware of and only the Dunlop grout paint comes in a grey or black colour.

However, if you are after a proper grout renovation, I suggest using a multi tool along with a Diablo 70mm Starlock Carbide Grit Multi-Tool Blade for Grout and Mortar attached. This will allow you to properly remove the grout and allow you to install new grout to the colour of your choice. I recommend using a Dunlop 1.5kg Flexible Coloured Grout - White. One box is supposed to cover 8.2 square meters. Once you've put the grout in, you'll be able to judge how much more you'll be needing.

Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to grout tiles.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
