I’d like to update these barstools from black to white on the base / legs.
They are made of Powder-coated steel.
Can I get a good finish by spray painting these? If so, what kind of spray paint is best and how do I prep them? Thanks so much
Hi @Snails,
Yes, you can achieve a great finish by spray painting, but preparation is key. First, you'll need to abrade the surface with 180-grit sandpaper to remove the gloss and create a rougher surface for the paint to adhere to. Be thorough, sanding all areas of the legs and base, especially any corners or curves. Once you've sanded, clean the surface well with a damp cloth to remove any dust or residue left from sanding.
It's best to use a high-quality spray paint designed for pre-painted metal surfaces, such as Dulux Metalshield. Apply several light coats rather than a couple of heavy ones, allowing each coat to dry in between. This will help you avoid drips and achieve an even, professional-looking finish. With patience and care, you should get excellent results.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
