Hi everyone; new poster here!
Have recently had a new lawn installed and have fully got the big for wanting to maintain a pristine lawn!
as it’s newly laid it’s a little bumpy and needs a few rounds of top dressing to start bringing it towards being level.
im planning on doing this over a longer time period slowly building up the lower spots.
is anyone able to recommend which sand at Bunnings is best for top dressing?
any advice is welcome
thanks
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @newlawnaddict. It's sensational to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about top-dressing a lawn.
You could either use a pre-mixed top-dressing product or sand. Coarse landscape sand can be used, though it can tend to develop a bit of a crust that needs to be broken up. Alternatively, I've just top-dressed my lawn with play sand, partly because it is triple-washed and the most budget-friendly option.
I picked up around 15 bags for my front lawn, but after doing so, I realised I would have been much better off getting a bulk delivery. That really depends on how much sand you'll need, though.
Doing the process slowly's a good idea; you don't want to cover the grass blades completely.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
