What can a beginner use instead of a jigsaw?

I was wondering if there is something I can use instead of a Jigsaw for small projects.

Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you join us.

A jigsaw is generally used to cut curves and shapes in timber.

There are manual options you could use to cut a curve such as this IRWIN Double Edge Pull Saw. These saws are flexible, with very fine teeth and are often used in furniture making and fine carpentry.

There are also things like hole saws that can be used to cut large, perfectly round holes in a variety of materials.

Is there a particular project you had in mind when asking your question? 

I would be able to point you towards the best tool for the job if you were able to provide some details.
