Photo of old garden. We decided to tidy up the garden using cottage mulch and would have to get a new tyre for the wheel barrow to transport the mulch around from the front of the house.

We went to Bunnings to buy a tyre. This was the easy part .    We had to cut off the old wheel through the axle using a hacksaw.

Materials

A Sherlock wheel to suit the size of the wheelbarrow.allowing for the height and clearance for its use..

Bolt, nuts and washers to suit the wheel.

Pipe to act as a spacer over the bolt and to center the wheel on the axle.

Other items we bought 4 pavers   2 stakes for tomato plants

2 tomato punnets 2 punnets of lettuce.and a spinach plant All bought from Bunnings. Also a few pots of flower

Tools

A hacksaw, adjustable spanners, clamps to hold the pipe whilst cutting, a tape measure and marker, masks and gloves.20231028_172117.jpg

Steps

Step 1

The first step was to remove the old tyre off the wheelbarrow. We needed to hack saw off the axle which took some time as the old axle was not able to be removed.

Step 2

The second step was to check and find a suitable replacement allowing for the space and height the old tyre and wheel. Fortunately, we were able to find a replacement and used a suitable bolt and nut combination to fit it.

Step 3

We placed the pavers in the garden and put the potting mix into the garden trolley. and planted the punnet of vegetables

Step 5

We used the wheel barrow to carry the mulch around the garden .        The completed garden20231103_130713 - Copy (2).jpg

Re: Tidy up vegetable garden and replace tyre on wheel barrow to help carry the mulch to the garden

Hi @jenny123,

The garden is looking great and it is great to hear you were able to find a suitable replacement tyre for your wheelbarrow.

Thank you for sharing.
