How to treat umbrella plant with leaf damage?

I went away for a week , we did have hot weather while away , I've returned to find my umbrella plant suffering, it's not in direct sun indoors

Re: umbrella plant

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @janehulbert. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about Umbrella plant care.

Is there any chance you might be able to take another shot of the damaged area? I understand it's hard to capture it, but your focus in on the leaf in front and the area of damage is out of focus. There appears to be a mass in the middle of both of these damaged areas. Is that an insect? Try squashing it with your fingernail. It could be a type of scale insect. You might like to spray the plant with Yates Scale Gun.

If this is just one isolated leaf, I would remove it and dispose of it in your garbage bin. As long as this issue isn't spreading to the other leaves, I would remove it and monitor the plant.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
