Hi, we had very large Lily Pilly’s pruned, hard cut and to reduce height down to 2.5-3metres. They were over 4 metres and completely overgrown - had not been touched for nearly 3 years. Hopefully made the right decision after taking some advice.
Cheers
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @lkar. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about Lilly Pilly's.
It sounds like you've made a good decision by cutting back the Lilly Pillys to a more manageable height. Since we're heading into autumn, it's normal for the trees to slow down their growth during the cooler months, and they likely won't show much new growth until spring. However, they still have a great chance of recovering and thriving once the warmer weather returns.
To support their recovery, you can apply Seasol, which is a seaweed-based product that helps promote root growth and overall plant health. This can give them a boost as they begin to regrow in the coming months. Keep an eye on them and ensure they are well-watered, especially during any dry spells. Once spring arrives, you'll likely see new shoots start to emerge, and with time, your Lilly Pillys should bounce back and flourish.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
