What’s the next steps to take to start my first ever raised gardening? I plan to plant vegetables.

Re: First time in raised gardening

Hello @annepee

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about starting your raised vegetable garden.

Generally, the first step is to determine what type of vegetable you can grow during the current season. Once you've decided on the vegetable, you'll need to grow the seeds in a Saxon Mini Green House With Seed Tray. This will allow your seeds to get a good head start and partially establish their growth.

Once the seedlings are old enough, you can then put soil in your garden bed and transfer the seedlings to the new garden bed.

I suggest having a quick look at this discussion - How to start a vegie garden? by @jazek. In the discussion Mitchell mentioned that you can check the back of the seed packages in the store to find out when the best time for planting is. Depending on where you are located, the timing might vary.

In regards to the soil, I suggest looking at these guides:

Re: How to plant vegetables in a raised garden bed?

Hi @annepee,

Great to have you join the Bunnings Workshop community. We look forward to seeing all the wonderful produce you can grow in the months ahead.

Just thought I'd add to @EricL's reply that @Noelle has also shared a comprehensive step-by-step guide showing how to fill a raised garden bed to help get you going. There's also great advice from other members in the article How do you fill a raised garden bed?

Hope that helps.
