I just replaced my leaky garden tap with the following
I wrap the thread with the following fix a tap thread seal clockwise in the same direction as the tap is turned to tighten, 5-6 times.
It is not leaking anymore, but when I turned it open, the water does not come smoothly, it kind of sprayed all over the place. Is this normal? Is something wrong with my installation or the tap is defective?
Before it was using this type of garden tap and the water did not come smoothly either, but it did not spray all over the place which maybe due to the fact its tap body is different. Could it be the water pressure is too high, given that it is the closest to the water main?

Hello @victor2605
Let me assure you that there is nothing wrong with your tap. It just so happens that the pressure coming out of your garden tap is so strong that it is forcing the water to come out in that strange angle. You'll notice that if you were to turn the tap down and reduce the flow it should come out in a less violent manner. If you were to attach your garden hose to this tap there should be no issue with water coming out the other end of the hose.

Thank you for your reply, Eric. I actually started with the lowest setting (smallest turn) and the water is already spraying horizontally, all over the place. Is that still a water pressure being too high? Thank you.
Hello @victor2605
I'm afraid due to its location the water will come out with very high pressure as you mentioned that it is right next to the water main. If you are after a softer flow it will need to go through your garden hose to slow it down and then out your garden sprayer. If your sprayer happens to have a pressure regulator such as the Holman 12mm Hose Trigger Gun Combo Set or the Holman 8 Function Spray Gun With Thumb Flow Control, you'll be able to control the amount of water pressure coming out of your garden sprayer.
A classic 70's solution is to cover the outlet with an old thick sock and tie it with a rubber band or piece of rope. The sock acts as a buffer/aerator and slows the water down and comes out as a stream. Plus, it stops it from spraying all around the area. You just need to remove the sock when you need to use the garden hose. That piece of nostalgia also tells you how old I am.
