How to control weeds on wooden steps?

We have this weeds growing on wood steps situation.

There are some landscaping pebbles that the previous owner had put but clearly they are not enough and most likely there is no weedmat

Very hard to whipper snipper too

So hoping some one can suggest what the best way to manage it?

Am thinking maybe spray off thsi area and put weedmat here and then put some more landscaping pebbles on top to pretty it out?

Re: weeds on wooden steps

Hi @nishtha,

I'd recommend periodically spraying a path weeder over the pebbles, as it will help prevent weeds for up to 12 months. You could remove the pebbles, add weed matting, and then reinstall them, but keep in mind that weed seeds will still land on the surface and attempt to germinate. Even with the matting in place, you may still see some weeds pop up over time, so regular maintenance with a path weeder will be the most effective long-term solution.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
