Re: Battery powered whiper snipper/ brushcutter

Hi @Cranswick,

You have the choice of a line trimmer or brush cutter, and I'd suggest looking at the 36V range, which offers more power than the 18V models.

A brushcutter is particularly suited for cutting through coarser grass, thick weeds, and thin plants. It has more power and is designed to handle tough, overgrown areas, making it ideal if you need to clear long grass or thicker vegetation. If you're looking to clear a lot of overgrowth, the brushcutter would be the more efficient option, especially if the grass is dense or tough.

On the other hand, a line trimmer (or string trimmer) is perfect for giving a cleaner, neater cut to regular grass. It’s lighter and easier to control for general lawn maintenance, and it’s great for trimming along edges, around garden beds, and other delicate areas. While it may not handle very long or tough grass as efficiently as a brushcutter, it’s ideal for keeping a well-maintained lawn looking tidy.

The good news is that with most models, you can switch out the cutting head to suit your needs. You can purchase an additional head, so if you go with a brushcutter, you can add a line trimmer head later for finer work. Likewise, some line trimmers allow for a brushcutter attachment. This gives you the flexibility to use one tool for both clearing and maintaining your lawn. Check out the Expand-It attachments.

For your current needs, a brushcutter would likely be the best option to tackle the long grass. Once cleared, you could then switch to a line trimmer for ongoing maintenance to keep the area looking sharp and tidy.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
