How do i prepare garden beds for mulch?
Hi, I’m wanting to put bark or wood chips on garden beds pictured. How do I prepare the ground so I don’t get a breakthrough of weeds? Thank you.

Re: How do i prepare garden beds for bark/mulch?
Hi @char81,
Thank you for your question about preparing your gardens for mulch.
I would start by raking up and removing any leaves in the garden bed so you can see the exposed soil.
At this point, remove any weeds that are growing manually so that you have a clear garden bed.
If applied in a thick layer of around 100-150mm, mulch will suppress most weeds, however, you could increase the weed suppression by laying down some weed mat before applying your mulch over the top.
Let me know what you think and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
